4th of July - BHB Style

Given the horribly hot weather that most of the US experienced last week(110+ degrees in Kansas...how is that even possible?)
I'm not going to complain that it is a foggy and cool 67 degrees
here on the west side of Los Angeles

My plan for today was to lounge by the pool
with The Corrections by Johnathan Franzen
But instead of my planned July 4th wardrobe of a red, white and blue bikini
a big hat and some spf 50
I'll be dressed to stay warm
in red skinny jeans, a white button down shirt, navy ballet flats, a vintage navy bag by Celine and a red, white, blue and gold silk scarf
and the usual gold stuff

Have you read The Corrections?
The book is brilliantly written and I recommend it.
What have you been reading lately?
Any suggestions for my summer reading list?

Fourth of July Fashion

Just in case you were wondering....
I will not be wearing either one of these outfits to celebrate this holiday weekend.
I'm sticking with the staid
South Sea Pearls, (the double strand) for a Pasadena wedding today

and
some amazing Jean Mahie jewelry for a 4th of July party tomorrow night
I hope that all of you are enjoying your weekend

Decollete and Diamonds

I was so looking forward to going to a holiday party tonight until I delved into my little closet of cocktail dresses and found that none of my holiday party clothes fit!
After an immediate state of panic I found one black velvet outfit and modeled it for Miss de Ville to get her opinion. She kindly told me that I looked like a fat nun.
Not good.
I will have to overcompensate for that with decollete and diamonds.

Savvy Shopping - On My Fantasy Christmas List

Europa Coat in Loden from Goresuch.com $1598

Because this is the closest I will get to spending my Christmas in a snowy chalet in the Engadine Valley in the Swiss Alps....
and because I like loden.

Savvy Shopping - Making Merry in Mikimoto

Well, it's that time of year again and all of the sleigh bells and tinsel can't take the dread out of the annual office Holiday party.
As usual, you want to look good so that you can tactfully leave early and meet up with your friends at the bar at the Thompson or the Bel Air Hotel.
So here's the outfit.
And, the perfect accessory

Beladora Mikimoto pearl necklace with spinel and diamond detail

If your boss compliments you on the necklace while ogling your cleavage, just say thank you and smile. And...when your co-workers ask where you got the beautiful pearls, just say that you inherited them from your grandmother.... or they might think that you and the boss have been doing a little extra curricular work on the side and that the necklace was part of your year end bonus.
