Zeroing In On Zanotti

From recent email from Bergdorf Goodman
the latest shoe from Giuseppe Zanoti

The ultimate in Italian chic or worthy of a post on the Man Repeller blog?
I bet you can guess my opinion on these shoes.

A Town and Country Holiday

Typically around this time of year I manage to to take a few days off and plop myself down with a book and a margarita on a beach in Mexico,
because an escape from LA is desperately needed.

This summer, I am opting for something altogether different,
and no, I don't mean taking the entire month of August off, like the Europeans do.
(I wish)

I'm going for a little culture and and a little relaxation
by way of a town and country holiday abroad.

So, after months of procrastination, I finally booked a few days here

and here

and here

and here

Hopefully, I will get a chance to visit this gorgeous place too

And, if the vacation gods are with me, I will have bathing suit weather all the way.
We shall see.

What kind of summer vacation destinations do you prefer, town, country or beach?

Auction Watching - Jane Austin's Ring at Sotheby's

From the Guardian
A turquoise ring which once belonged to Jane Austen is up for auction at Sotheby's next week. But fans of the romantic novelist will need deep pockets if they are to win the rare piece of jewellery, which has a guide price of £20,000 to £30,000.
The turquoise and gold ring came to Sotheby's from Austen's family, complete with a note sent by Jane's sister-in-law, Eleanor Austen, in November 1863, to Jane's niece, Caroline Austen. "My dear Caroline," wrote Eleanor. "The enclosed ring once belonged to your Aunt Jane. It was given to me by your Aunt Cassandra as soon as she knew that I was engaged to your uncle. I bequeath it to you. God bless you!"
The discovery of a previously unknown personal item of Jane Austen's is extremely rare, said Dr Gabriel Heaton, Sotheby's literature expert.

Ah...just another reason to love estate jewelry.
I won't be bidding on this ring...only because I'm not a big fan of Austin.
But, if a ring came up for sale from my favorite females authors of the long 18th Century,
I'd seriously consider bidding on it.

4th of July - BHB Style

Given the horribly hot weather that most of the US experienced last week(110+ degrees in Kansas...how is that even possible?)
I'm not going to complain that it is a foggy and cool 67 degrees
here on the west side of Los Angeles

My plan for today was to lounge by the pool
with The Corrections by Johnathan Franzen
But instead of my planned July 4th wardrobe of a red, white and blue bikini
a big hat and some spf 50
I'll be dressed to stay warm
in red skinny jeans, a white button down shirt, navy ballet flats, a vintage navy bag by Celine and a red, white, blue and gold silk scarf
and the usual gold stuff

Have you read The Corrections?
The book is brilliantly written and I recommend it.
What have you been reading lately?
Any suggestions for my summer reading list?
