Vintage Value Venture - Hot Colors For Cold Spring Nights

After looking at Tish's town & country photos I'm pretty sure that it is colder here in Los Angeles than it is in Paris....and not just because it is raining outside. For the last week or two I've noticed the temperatures at 64 degrees...in the sun at mid day! Unheard of for this time of year here. And of course the nights are downright cold.

So...if I had anywhere to go...on a cold spring night...I'd mix it up with hot colors like cherry red and fuchsia pink. Probably too matchy-matchy for all all of you but I'd totally wear this ensemble.

2010 Trends - Back Away From The Bakelite

So here we go again...a new year with new trends.
According to Bazaar in the list of top twenty trends
the new look in jewelry will be Lucite and Bakelite bangles
like this one from designer Mark Davis.

Mark Davis Lucite and semi-precious gemstone bangles $1600-$3200 (yikes!)
Here are the other overpriced Mark Davis pieces at Barneys

OK...so call me a boring traditionalist but I just can't see spending over $1000 on Lucite, Bakelite of any other plastic type material that has zero intrinsic value....semi-precious stones or no.

UnoAErre tri-color gold cuff bracelet in 18K $1250

I'd much rather have this tri-color 18k bracelet by Italian design house UnaAErre

Would you consider buying $1600 Lucite or Bakelite Bangles?

Modern Minimalism - Sleek and Sculptural

Keeping up with Couture Carrie's post on Modern Minimalism

I snagged this one shouldered wonder by Jill Sander, from Carrie's post, specifically because of its sculptural style.
To wear with it, this sleek bangle bracelet in 18K
which I believe is a custom piece by designer Patricia Von Musulin.

OK, so these photos aren't so flattering...
(and no my arm isn't that short and fat...it's the camera angle)

This heavy gold bracelet is really more of a piece of art than an item of jewelry
Don't you think?
Only available from Beladora.com
