In a brilliant marketing move Michelle Obama's handlers have purposefully dressed her in a wardrobe similar to what Jacqueline Kennedy wore as First Lady. Right down to the hairstyle and the triple strand of pearls, evoking "Jackie O" gives Mrs Obama both a softer and more sophisticated look, indeed, a more First Lady look.
With the Obama presidency looking more like a return to Camelot, with a young and attractive couple with two small children in the White House, the subliminal impact of dressing like "Jackie O" is huge.
This is just another example of how well run the Obama campaign has been.
Coincidentally this weekend Linda Grant of the blog The Thoughtful Dresser just published an article in The Australian about the importance of clothes.
