Getting Inspired For Holiday Entertaining

Every year at this time I debate with myself over the subject of whether or not I even want to bother to get a Christmas tree.  It's a lot of time and energy for just myself and my two children to appreciate.
But then there's the blogosphere begging me to get in the Christmas spirit and consider entertaining with photos like these.
Reggie and Boy's table setting from a formal Fall dinner party - simply sublime
A table setting a la Francais brought to us by Tish Jett - absolument magnifique
And a tartan table from stylist/designer/blogger Scot Meacham Wood

To be honest, I'm much too busy working, especially at this time of year, to organize any type of entertaining, even the most basic cocktail party.  I'm such a perfectionist that if I can't do it right, I won't do it at all.
Perhaps some day in the future, I will find the time for all this.
In the meantime, I will enjoy the merriment vicariously through the my friends in the blogosphere.

Fear not, mine won't look anything like that!

I'm hoping to get the house cleared out/cleaned up enough to do a small New Years Eve party for family. That's about all I can manage at this time of year.

I am not a perfectionist- my mantra is Near Enough is Good Enough and just TELL people it's perfect and they will agree!! Those tables are fab- you can do it!!

Forget Christmas. I'm already planning my beach wardrobe for next summer. Billabong or Quiksilver? ;)

Wonderful images and go on as they say! Mind you I can talk I'm off duty this Christmas!

Also I meant to ask you if you watch Mad Men because the young girl Sally wears this gorgeous gold necklace and I thought you might be able to point me in the right direction on your wares! I'm sure you will have something the same or similar.

I go through the same dilemma myself - to decorate or to not decorate? Usually I can't justify the time, expense and waste for temporary things.. but those table setups are lovely. Tempting!

I know what you mean really about being a perfectionist, but I have it down to fine art now, with some trusty canapes and lots of Champagne, fairy lights and scented candles, a gorgeous dress and we are ready for a party xxx
