I like pieces with some heft, though you do have to watch out for too much weight on your neck. Assembling many bitsy chains and pendants looks jeune fille no matter how many you layer on.

Honestly, while I always loved this look and have tried to pull it off on many an occasion, I can't stand the ensuing choking that happens when my strands get tangled together and in my hair.
I did purchase a few necklaces that simulate the look but have all the stands attached at each end affixed to a bar Just before the clasp.
Those I love because struggling with your chains all night is never glamorous.
Long hair and chains can definitley be a problem. Creating a swagged look with chains attached to a bar is the solution, but usualally looks to even and symetrical for my taste. I prefer a little more nonchalance with my chains.

I love multi strand necklaces - I have always been a sucker for the Chanel tons of long pearls look. But I have some pretty fun vintage pieces that I hook together and get creative with.
