Vintage Brooches - When Too Much Actually Is Too Much

Usually when I get dressed up I pile on the jewelry.  In fact when it comes to estate jewlery our office motto is "too much is never enough".  But sometimes wearing it all at one time is better as an idea than a reality.
My case in point Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoes
the society/vintage/her mother has a huge closet/debutante blogger
I've blogged before about how much I love vintage brooches...especially animal brooches
but really, this is out of control.
Now, if you can get beyond the over-brooched photos of Miss Aldridge she links to the incredible website of photographer Douglas Friedman who shoots portraits, interiors, celebrity homes and architecture.
Here's an example of his work
I have no idea where this celebrity home is...but I want to live there
And I'm just loving this pool in the middle of what looks like an olive grove.  Very nice.
Check out his website.

She looks like one of those Disneyland pin collectors.

Love the shot of the pool in the olive grove, though. Really gorgeous!

I agree about the jewelry...and WOW I want to be laying by the pool in the middle of an olive grove! It looks so peaceful. xo

Oh my Belle,
I do see exactly what you mean, it is a tad much.
She is a lovely girl but the brooches are weighing her down by at least 40 pounds.
And I must confess: My mother has a smaller version of that hideous crab but hers has diamonds and rubies on it-heinous waste of gems!
The palatial home would be a lovely oasis for you, when you move in, do have a housewarming so I can see the home properly please.
Have a lovely evening Belle, cheers!

She has way too many on that jacket but if she just had one, it may look a bit old, maybe this is the young, fresh way to wear them.

Great house, how wonderfully understated it is and beautiful.

I have mixed feelings about this picture. The girl looks sweet. The photograph is excellent. I see this as an advertisement, and as such it is good. In real life, I could not imagine her wearing even one brooch, as she already has a pearl necklace.

Yes a tad too much and as said she looks like a pin collector. However is that a Schiaparelli lobster broach?

Oh my, that is a lot of brooches. I also thought the original inspiration look, although tremendously junked up, was far more interesting, style-wise, than the Aldridge interpretation.

Love that pool in the olive grove. I wish I was there right now. Do throw a party when you move into that fabulous home.

I'm hoping she's simply displaying them, rather than wearing them!
