Dior Couture Spring/Summer 2010 - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

John Galliano for Dior Couture is always a master of the narrative
And I'm certainly loving his Belle Epoque Equestrienne narrative for 2010

Seriously...what's not to love here

and here

and here
These gorgeous riding habits make me think of Sher and her sidesaddle!

But with the good comes the bad

and the ugly

but Galliano as Cavalier is always part of the narrative
Doesn't he look like he just stepped away from his four in hand?

See, I love that asymetric dress. But I do agree with you about the one above it, though the colors are gorgeous.

Hi! My turn to visit your site. Although everything around horses is close to my heart, I only find the last equestrian outfit good. Now that´s the outfit acquired from a dressage rider. I know that this is about haute couture from famous designers and something v e r y few get to obtain. Me? I do have the whip ;) P.S. I just noticed that something is missing from the equestrian outfit. Spurs ! But there is a saying that spurs must be earned ( one must have a certain amount of skill as a rider ). Well, maybe the maestro has not earned his spurs in the equestrian world.

I agree completely. A lot could be done with those Gone With the Wind riding get-ups and if a woman wanted that dress thing there she could find it for a dollar at some vintage shop. But who would want it.

Pseu...Galliano is a genius and I certainly write with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek when I comment about anything that he creates being ugly!
SR, you are a sister in spirit if you too love those first two frocks.
Metscan, welcome! Well he may have not earned his spurs in the riding ring but he has certaily earned them on the runway.
Tish, exactly. Galliano's genuis is in his ability to choose a narrative for his collections. The last dress is just not part of the story.

I love the costumey designers, but the most wearable to me is McQueen.
