Alexander McQueen - Spring Collection 2010

Alexander McQueen's Spring 2010 Collection
inspired by Charles Darwin's Origin of The Species
according to The Daily Mail
Ruffled hemlines were frilled to resemble feathers, and vibrant fabrics were printed to resemble amphibian-like breastplates.
The high-tech show set then morphed into a prehistoric underwater scene, lending something of an otherworldly feel.

Can someone...anyone please explain the evolutionary biology behind these soaring 12 inch Alexander McQueen boots

Is this the modern equivalent of foot binding?
Does Alexander McQueen really hate women?

I can only think of it as performance art...this isn't fashion. I don't see how any of it can be interpreted for even the most avant garde billionairess. But, what do you want to bet...we will eventually see some skinny fashionista tottering around on the cobblestones of Paris in these ridiculous booties. You know what? I really hate booties!

I absolutely adored this collection, even the outrageous footwear. Runway is all about extremes... I don't think McQueen hates women; just loves fashion!

I call them Bedlington terrier booties. I must say, I was captivated watching the video of models walking in these booties. I dont know if it was horror or in appreciation of the art! Will decide later . . .

That's all I've been seeing and hearing about are those shoes/boots. So many people couldn't get past the hair and the feet, they never noticed the clothes.

And my money is on Beckham being photographed wearing them ;)

Wow. The models deserve credit for walking in those. I don't know how they did it!

Jill: I agree with the performance art idea..and yes some fashion victim will be tottering around on these.
CC: I think that McQueen is a brilliant designer, and this extreme is more cirque du solei than anything else. He got our attention didn't he?
Miss C: Bedlington terrier booties, brilliant!
Sher: I agree that the shoes outshined the clothes....doesn't that defeat the purpose of the runway show.
T Lover: God...just imagine one of these girls falling down and then having them all fall in a domino way.

Anon: I was thinking the same thing. Do fashion designers have to take out additional disability policies to cover their models in crazy high heels?
