Weekend Retreat - OMG Ojai!

Glenn Reynolds has linked to one of the most depressing articles on California I've ever read
Fat Public Sector Sickens California

And if the saying "As California Goes, So Goes The Nation" is true...we're screwed and it doesn't look good for the rest of the country.

Under Arnold Schwarzenegger, the best governor the states next to California have ever had, people and businesses have been relocating to those states. For four years, more Americans have moved out of California than have moved in.
California’s business costs are more than 20 percent higher than the average state’s. If, since 1990, state spending increases had been held to the inflation rate plus population growth, the state would have a $15 billion surplus instead of a $42 billion budget deficit, which is larger than the full budgets of all but 10 states.
Since 1990, the number of state employees has increased by more than a third. In Schwarzenegger’s less than six years as governor, per capita government spending, adjusted for inflation, has increased nearly 20 percent.

Lucky us...

But I've decided that before it all goes to hell I'm determined to enjoy all the areas of the state that remind me of the best that California has to offer.
Like Ojai.
Only a little more than an hour away from Los Angeles and it's a world away.

Bucolic and beautiful.
Perfect for a hike and a massage or an afternoon nap on a sunny terrace.

A Happy Valley

Followed by a glass of wine and an early dinner al fresco as the sun goes down at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa with a luscious view of the golf course.
Luscious indeed.

Jill, it's green now but will be mostly brown in a couple of months.
Ojai hasn't changed much in the last 50 or so years, I love that Old California ambiance.
Now...I just need to get myself a little ranch there....
