More McQueen Mayhem

Can someone please explain this?
Was Alexander McQueen afraid that we wouldn't notice his genius without all the styling antics of chain mail, umbrella hats, swan feather dresses and clown makeup?

Even with the magpie mayhem and houndstooth from hell fabrics and Philip Treacy surrealist toques, this collection was brilliant.
There's something so "little boy at the back of the class with his hand raised and a NOTICE ME PLEASE expression on his face" about all of this.
It's McQueen for God's sake...why does he have to try so hard?

It reminds me of Pinhead from the movie "Hellraiser"...that's the name of the movie, right? I love McQueen, but I agree with you. I'm looking forward to seeing the video of the show.

I love the McQueen slideshow from New York Magazine with McQueen coming out wearing jeans and a denim shirt.
Someone left a comment saying that the more normal McQueeen looks the more wild the clothes in his collection.
And how about that model with the headpiece made out of coke cans under a strechy white fabric...who wouldn't wear that?

Hi Summer: thanks for stopping by BHB. McQueen truly is a mad genius. But some part of me keeps thinking that while he's standing backstage at his fashion show, he's laughing at all of us and thinking "God, I really can get away with anything".
You have a very nice blog with an interesting mix of topics...
