Around Town - Six Degrees at the Montage

I've been wanting to go to the new Montage Hotel since it opened in December and I just haven't had the time. So... last night the young jewelry divas and I stopped by for a drink and to check it out.
The hotel design is magnificent...old world Mediterranean meets old Los Angeles style, all arches and dark wood, stone and muted colors. Style wise it is the opposite of the Laguna Beach Montage, but both hotels are designed with unique features that fit their specific surroundings. The Beverly Hills Montage has a touch of that 1930's Hollywood glamour that makes you wonder if you're going to see Gloria Swanson and Erich von Stroheim strolling through the loggia.
OK, so after we settled down in the lounge area of the bar and a really handsome young man sits down at the other end of the sofa we were on. He looked really familiar in that way that everybody sort of looks like someone you know in LA. And over my $25 glass of Cakebread chardonnay, things come into focus and I realized that it was Kevin Bacon.

So what's the big deal about a Kevin Bacon sighting you ask. Well, the first thing is that it was weirdly a six degrees thing because he and Kyra Sedgwick lost money with Madoff.

And...he looked really young.
Let's face it...Kevin Bacon is not younger than me and he looked like he was 25.
All I could think is "I want to know which plastic surgeon he is using".
But he was polite and gracious, and even stood up to have his photo taken with some rube tourist who was at the hotel. A classy guy all around.
To add to the celebrity sightings...the jewelry divas were pretty sure that they had an Ivanka Trump sighting as well.

Montage Hotel...expensive wine but good celebrity vibe.

You heard it here first!

let me know if you find out who did Kevin's work through your network. I know a guy in OC in his early 50's that might want to get the same kind of thing done ;-) LM
