Getting Out Of Gunnison

The best thing about this photo was that it was taken just before I boarded the plane to Denver en route to LA. Gunnison Colorado Airport December 2008
From Wikipedia
Gunnison is located at the bottom of several valleys. Due to its location in the Rocky Mountains, cold air in all the valleys settles into Gunnison at night, making it one of the coldest places in winter in the United States, especially when snowpack is present. The average January low is −7 °F (−21.7 °C). The record low is −47 °F (−43.9 °C) set on December 25, 1924.

That's cold, alright.

We do an annual ski trip in Beaver Creek, which sometimes gets that cold, but not consistently.

I don't mind the cold so much when I am skiing because I am dressed for it. But to be in that kind of cold and to try to carry out everyday tasks is just miserable.
On the other hand, there's nothing like coming in from the cold and settling into a cozy chair in front of a roaring fire with a glass of merlot!
