$250 jeans?
$825 backpacks?
Who pays these prices for children's clothes and accessories?
Well, I guess wealthy New Yorkers do.
$3,800 biker jackets and $500 handbags: Gucci opens first standalone CHILDREN'S boutique in New York
A white 'faux-wrap' dress costs $495, and a baby winter quilted down coat, complete with fur and a hood, will set a new parent back a cool $795.
But the king of the crop is an adult-style biker jacket in powder pink - a pretty penny for any princess at an eye-watering $3,800.
With stylist Rachel Zoe's eight-month-old son Skyler already getting a taste for $1000 Gucci jackets, he may be in line for some of the store's newest offerings.
The fashion house last year donated $1 million to UNICEF's Schools for Africa and $50,000 to Lopez's Maribel Initiative to celebrate their children's line.
It amuses me that the article would mention Rachel Zoe's son and his $1000 Gucci jacket....as if she had had to actually purchase it. It had to have been donated swag....which is pure marketing for the brand.
I'm also amused by the timing of this store opening
and a little surprised that we don't have a "Occupy Gucci"

Those are extreme prices for children's cothes. There must be a market for this merchandize and we will thank them for their donation to a children's school.

Hahahahaha. Occupy Gucci indeed.
Ridiculous!
I like Gucci and have on occasion splurged for MYSELF but spending that kind of money on a kid, is RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!
What's crazy is that children grow so fast, they'd maybe get a few months' wear out of these clothes. My mother had an expression, "more money than sense," and this seem to exemplify it.
"more money than sense" certainly describes the parents who would spend this type of money on clothing for children. Not only do they grow out of the clothes quickly, they are likely to rip, stain or otherwise destroy them...because that is what kids do!
In this economy those prices are stupid. I don't know anyone silly enough to pay retail anymore.
Skyler probably no longer fits inot most of his gifted kit.
Awww so cute! =)

Hahaha, I laughed aloud at Occupy Gucci, that is perfect. This whole thing is ridiculous, while I do think some of the more conspicuous consumption has been diminished, I guess there will always be a fool and someone to part him/her from their money.
Sending you a smile Miss BHB!

I can't imagine that people would actually buy this stuff for their kids when they grow out of it so fast... right? That's nuts.
