Very thoughtful. A local lad, one of three brothers all soliders in Afghanistan recently got killed, the funeral was massive and thousands turned out to show their respect.

So touching we were talking about this last night. How would you feel if your son was killed in action right now? Do you feel that his life was fighting a worthy cause? In the beginning we seemed to have a goal .. now???? I just think a war like this is futile. I hope you dont get a load of negative comments now because of mine xx

Fab, it's really amazing when an entire community comes out to show their respect for a fallen soldier.

Ruth, Yes the longer this drags out, the more questions it raises.
Nonetheless, I wanted to post those videos as a recognition of the actual men and women in the armed services and what they do, rather than make a statement on why they are there.

Also, I wanted to recognize the fact that it's not just the US, the Brits, Canadians, and even the Germans are all contributing and taking casualties.

Finally, there is the question of the choice of the military for young men. I have two nephews that will probably end up in Afghanistan in a few years. One is studying arabic at VMI, the other is at Westpoint. The choice was their own to join the service, they were not coerced to do so. They didn't join to go to the Middle East, they joined because they both wanted to have a careers in the military, which is a pretty amazing thing.
